STYLISTIC ANALYSIS 2
Introduction
Stylistic analysis is a study of the art object in the context of the stylistic period in what it
was created. This period could be Modern, Hellenistic, or Renaissance. The stylistic analysis aims
to answer how an art object fits in its established period. For this stylistic analysis, I selected image
one which is a painting referred to as Pastoral Concert or otherwise referred to as Concert
Champêtre. This paper sets out to conduct a stylistic analysis of this painting by first evaluating
its artist, period style, and medium. The paper then analyzes the content and the stylistic
characteristics of the artwork. It then explains why the artwork is statistically significant as well
as the stylistic influences that can be identified.
Artist, Period Style, and medium
Pastoral Concert is a 1510 painting from the Renaissance period. Its artist could be either
Titian or Giorgione, even though there is a possibility that both artists worked on the artwork.
Some critics have assigned it to Titian while others have assigned it to Giorgione. Notably, several
modern critics assign it to the former, because of the robustness of the figures, typical of Titian’s
style. It has been argued that Giorgione, whose works feature music elements and pastoral idleness,
began the work, and then, after his untimely death in 1510, the canvas was completed by Titian.
Pastoral Concert features a Venetian Renaissance painting style. Its medium is that of oil on
canvas. The painting’s current location is Musée de Louvre, Paris.
Content

contemporary costumes and a naked woman, with a light scarf on a lawn, all playing music
together. Next to these two young men and a naked woman, is another naked woman who also has
