Journal Article #1
Why the Test and Data are Appropriate
The data obtained from the primary French health insurance system's database was
appropriate as it built a cohort of patients starting the opioid substitution therapy. The data was
appropriate as the health insurance system covers 87% of the French general population. It
incorporates people with different occupations and includes the unemployed and low-income
earners (Dupouy et al., 2013). The tests were appropriate as they were essential in determining the
significance of the article's research concerning the null hypothesis. For instance, the results of the
tests carried out, such as the Fisher test and chi-square tests, were due to chance and were not
significant in supporting the idea being investigated.
Data Presented
The data presented entails data extracted from the primary French health insurance system's
database. The data was extracted from the Midi-Pyrenees region from January 1, 2009, to
December 31, 2011. The data included a recorded OS between July 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010,
and a follow-up was made for eighteen to thirty months (Dupouy et al., 2013). The data collected
was based on one thousand five hundred and fifty-four patients. However, among them, one
thousand five hundred and seven patients were analyzed after others were excluded due to various
reasons such as lack of demographic data, mistaken attribution, and inability to meet the inclusion
criteria. The first OS delivery was the reference date in the article. The addiction treatment period
was thirty days before the first delivery of the OS prescribed to the end of the opioid substitution
treatment (OST). The French Data Protection Authority approved the study.
