Gender Inequality and Social Impact
The issue of gender and sexual inequality has been in existence throughout history. The
main agenda in this issue stipulates that men and women are not equal, and usually, the men hold
higher social status than the women (Keener et al., 2017). Although the man and woman make
up a family, the women were given most of the roles in the house. Besides, the females were
tasked with taking care of the family. Therefore, they were supposed to care for the family, even
in challenging situations such as after giving birth, although the men were supposed to be
providers of the family (Adams, 2018).
Besides, gender inequality was fueled by some religions that supported the subordination
of women (Keener et al., 2017). In such religious teachings, the women were supposed to respect
the men and obey heir commands. Therefore, there was the emergence of laws that also
supported the subordination of women in society. As a result, the women were barred from
holding leadership positions as they were reserved for men. Nevertheless, this issue has
contributed to the ongoing debate on the role of women in society (Adams, 2018).
Understanding the Social Issue
The analysis of the issue through the history lens has helped in understanding the ongoing
debate about gender inequality. In the current society, women are taking up leadership positions
while being supported by men (Keener et al., 2017). They are supposed to assume these positions
to help in fighting for their rights. However, the representation of women in the leadership
positions is not adequate, prompting for some policies such as the two-thirds gender rule. This is
