More tourism is not always a good thing. For that reason, many people have begun
viewing tourism as an irritant industry. It causes several adverse social and environmental
effects. Tourism has often been associated with increased pollution, especially oceanic
destinations. There is also increased alcohol, drug, and sex abuse, which may lead to the spread
of infectious diseases and increasing levels of crime in tourist destinations (Hunt, 2017).
I agree that working in a popular touristic destination like Kyoto; Japan would be exciting
at first. I would enjoy the diversity and the feel of a new environment. However, the pollution,
overcrowded places, and unruly behavior would soon come out, which is an effect of tourism in
the area (Ryall, 2017). This would interfere with my appreciation of the place and, consequently,
the ability to enjoy the work environment.
