Part A: Introduction
Knowledge management is an area that deals with identifying, managing and promoting
information sharing. Knowledge management comprises of various elements for example, learning
orientation, sharing of knowledge, as well as knowledge reuse. The concept of knowledge
management is crucial in an organization because it can lead to value creation and strong relationship
with organization’s stakeholders (Farooq, 2019). Knowledge is also a crucial asset to any
organization especially when it comes to decision making. Knowledge management systems in
organizations entail systems used to identify and manage organization’s knowledge. Different
organizations may have different systems of managing their knowledge. This paper presents
knowledge management system in Apple Inc., tools used by the organization and recommendations
on how the organization can improve its knowledge management.
Part B: Organizational Analysis
The organization used in this analysis is Apple Inc. Apple Inc. is an American publicly traded
company with its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The company operates across the globe in
four geographic segments including Europe, Greater china, Rest of Asia Pacific, and in the
Americas. Since its establishment in in 1976, this company has experienced growth making it the
leading technological and innovative company in the world. Innovation and growth is about how
knowledge is utilized hence, knowledge management system in this company has contributed to its
success.
Knowledge management has contributed greatly to the success of Apple Inc. The idea of
knowledge management in Apple Inc. has been incorporated into organizations culture. The founder
of the company, Steve Jobs has played a crucial role in promoting knowledge management in this
company for example, the creation of Apple University has enabled the company to continue
promoting knowledge and vision of the company (Elliot et al., 2001). Apple executives are taught
about the history of the company and taken through various case studies to ensure that they do not
