Decision making process involves procedures of analyzing and assessment of
several options with an aim of making a decision. The process requires individuals’ close
attention otherwise wrong decisions will be concluded. Not only do decision-making skills
crucial in business operation but also important in making life choices. However, there are
several misconceptions that influence the ability to make decisions. These misconceptions
include, the need of efficiency in making conclusion. Individuals misunderstands the meaning of
efficient by thinking that it means just rushing into a problem and making a conclusion. Too
much haste translates to wrong decisions that results to anguish. In most cases, rushing is
accompanied by failing to observe important details Kin the pool of choices which could have
influenced the matter in question.
Another myth is failing to give ample time when exploring decisions (Einhorn, 2021). It
is important to carry out enough research on options before making a decision. The research
process takes some time which many people ignore by saying they are too busy to research and
evaluate decision. Denying the decision, it time, is dangerous as it may result to making bad
choices. Another myth is making failing to have a future vision such that people make decision
that are only meant to solve the present problem without having a mindset of the future. It is
important to have a long-term view both the problem and the decision.
Additionally, it is crucial to involve other stakeholders when making a decision.
