The United States has experienced great advancements in the processes of creating
veteran courts as alternative avenues to the traditionally accepted processes. Lucas and Hanrahan
(2016) explain that a Buffalo, New York attorney implemented the efforts that led to the
establishment of veterans treatment courts based on the fact that the efforts of treating such
offenders for the associated substance abuse challenges and mental health issues would be of
crucial essence in their states of psychological wellbeing. According to Tsai et al., (2018),
veterans treatment courts have not only availed the affected individuals with ample avenues of
addressing the underlying criminal activities but also played a significant role in ensuring that
these veterans have a better shot at life success. The researchers explain that veterans who are
exposed to such court treatments face better chances of accessing alternative employment and
housing opportunities than their counterparts who lack access to such services. As such, veteran
courts reveal great variations from the traditional systems of justice based on their ability to
