Introduction
Most people perceive agriculture as an economic activity that is highly dependent on the
climate to produce the products necessary for human life sustainability. There is ambiguity
between climate change and global warming as the two terms are used interchangeably.
However, the latter is a component of the prior because it refers to an increase in the earth's
temperature over a long time. On the other hand, the climate is a vast discipline because it
constitutes changes in weather patterns that affect phenomena such as the sea level and ice mass.
In the contemporary world, changes in climate have led to adverse effects in all spheres,
particularly agriculture. The analysis done on the impacts of climate change shows that in years
to come, human life and agriculture will be the primary recipients of climatic adversities. For
instance, in third world countries, the changes will lead to a decline in yields hand the continents
will be hard hit by famine and drought. Additionally, by 2050 the availability of calories will
decline to approximately 2000 levels in developing nations. Subsequently, child malnutrition
will increase by 20%. Thus, in 2050 roughly $7.1 to $7.3 will be required in agricultural
investments to raise the levels of calories enough to offset the adverse effects of climate change
health (Röös et al., 2017). These statistics show there is a need to discuss the impacts of climate
changes on agriculture, as they will affect food production. In this light, the paper will discuss
the trends in climate change, the effects on agriculture in the US, modern amplifiers that have
magnified the problem, and possible solutions to climate change.
Trends in Climate Change
Before embarking on the effects of climate on agriculture, it is essential to identify the
climate change trends that have already been witnessed. According to Armal et al. (2018),
