Discussion
The study by Edwards et al. (2021) aimed to investigate the assessment of patients on
arrival at the emergency department and how patients are streamed and redirected to receive
primary care on and off-site. In this study, the authors concluded that pathways used to direct
patients in the emergency department vary depending on the models. Some models include
triage, redirection, streaming, and personal selection of patients by primary care clinicians. This
finding and conclusion are essential since it allows various primary care institutions to choose
the model that best fits their emergency department. As a nurse in the emergency department of
a primary care facility, I would apply a model that suits my facility or the emergency
department, depending on its success previously. As such, I will have sufficient evidence of its
effectiveness.
Dissemination of evidence from research is essential in the nursing profession as it
allows the target audience to access and acquire the relevant knowledge and skills for improved
quality of care. I would use various strategies and platforms to distribute evidence. For instance,
I would publish the evidence in professional nursing journals and spread it to various nurse
