Introduction
Mental health is influenced by one’s feelings, thoughts, and actions. As a result, mental
health contributes to social, psychological, and emotional well-being. In addition, it influences
one’s ability to interact with people, cope with stress, and make healthy decisions. According to
Teychenne et al. (2020), physical exercise is an effective technique for dealing with mental
health challenges. Regular physical activity profoundly impacts anxiety and depression. Physical
exercise also reduces stress, improves cognition, and boosts overall mood. This essay compares
two research studies conducted to determine the impact of physical exercise on mental health.
Search Strategy
Research studies evaluating the link between mental health and physical activity were
searched on databases such as PubMed, Medline, and Cinahl on February 17, 2022. This search
included English peer-reviewed articles published from 2018 to 2022. Keywords for this search
included “mental health,” “physical exercise,” and “the value of exercise for mental well-being
and disorders.” In addition, the research carried out manual searches of bibliographies from
systematic studies and retrieved articles addressing the connection between psychological well-
being and physical activity.
