Factors for employee motivation
Many factors are affecting employee motivation in the workplace. One of these factors is
compensation, which could be monetary or salaries. It should be noted that no one works for
free, and they should not. Employees are after earning reasonable salaries or payments with the
employees desiring that the staff feel satisfied. Notably, money acts as a major inducement, and
no other motivational technique comes near to it.
Leadership is another factor affecting the employee's motivation. Leadership is about
influencing people on doing things the right and expected way. To achieve this, there need
people following and trusting their various leaders. To make the employees trust you and do
things as expected, you need to motivate them (Mello, 2019).
Job enrichment is another factor contributing to the motivation of employees in an
organization. Job enrichment refers to job redesigning criteria allowing the employees to possess
autonomy in performing their tasks, handing them more responsibilities (Mello, 2019).
Promotional opportunities also affect employees' motivation considerably. A desire for
promotion is strong among the staff because it involves a change in the content of the job,
responsibility, pays, status, independence, among others. An example here is in many
organizations, mostly the private sectors, where one is likely to get two or three promotions in
their entire career time.
A proper rewarding system for employees works miracles in an organization. As
Gurchiek (2016) says the generation Z and the Millennials are satisfied by this move. Below are
how the proper rewards system affects an employee's motivation:
