Texas Legislature
Does it adequately represent the population of the state?
The typical Texas legislator is a white male protestant who is a college graduate, with
many holding a master's degree in law; they are all experienced lawyers, with many holding
numerous jobs (Champagne 588). This group of Texans has a reasonable edge because they meet
the requirements for becoming a legislator and fit the usual legislator profile. They might have a
greater chance of becoming lawmakers in Texas; these politicians have several benefits,
including the possibility of increased business because they are all lawyers (Champagne 607).
This seems to me that the legislature is unequal in its representation of minorities and women,
despite the fact that it is supposed to represent the people of its state. For all of Texas' citizens,
there is no proper representation. It would be significantly more reasonable to represent the
voting population of Texas if their representatives were from comparable cultures or the same
cultures, were of the same gender, and were of the same race. As a result, there is a need to
include many more minorities and women who might be eligible for the legislature to maintain a
more fair representation. Minorities and women, I believe, are still at a disadvantage,
notwithstanding their qualifications.

If the Texas Legislature had more people of color, more women, or more people of varying
levels of education, do you think it would pass different policies?
Minorities are rising at a higher rate than white Texans, and women account for roughly
half of the state's population (Champagne 590). As we look to the future of Texas and its ever-
increasing population, legislators will be more concerned about finding a middle ground with
women and minorities, whose votes will become more powerful and must be taken into account.
As the state grows, many newcomers will be Democrats; more Texans will be represented in the
legislature, and the legislation will be more balanced. This will certainly result in more varied
legislation, with more women and minorities becoming lawmakers and legislators as a result.
This can lead to changes in existing policies and impose new policies.
What kind of Policies Might they Pass?
More women will become politically active lawmakers and strong politicians as the
political balance shifts away from republican policies that harm women in the state. When this
occurs, rules addressing concerns such as equal pay will be implemented, maybe by requesting a
raise to a salary that is equal to or close to that of their male equivalent. Perhaps the policies will
aim to establish a leadership committee that monitors and identifies industries, organizations, and
enterprises that have no compelling need to hire a considerably higher percentage of males. For
instance, in sectors where both men and women are qualified and capable of performing the
same tasks. Many females I have watched and worked with were far more effective in their
performance, duties, and responsibility and had superior work etiquette. Many occupational
categories that, stereotypically, men do but which women can easily perform, especially if there
