Question 1
Stephen Prothero writes in his book, “God is not one,” the four-part approach to
introduce the practices of eight religions including a coda of Atheism (Prothero, 2011, p31). In

Question 2
Islamic
Problem: self-sufficiency or Pride
Muslims seek to fight the notion that one can get along without God. From its teaching, Islamic
show the importance of God in lives of its followers. In all their prayers, Muslim show that God
is important in their lives.
Solution: submission
Muslims show their submission to their God by following the teachings of the Quran. They
perform ancient prayers that fully involve their full body either when sitting, standing, bowing or
prostrating (Prothero, 2011).
Technique: Quran and the 5 pillars
Quran contains the words of God that are perfect, unaltered as well as untranslatable. On the
other hand, Shahdah is the central pillar and one to become a Muslim has to proclaim and testify
that there is no go but God, whereby Muhammad is the massager sent by the God. The other four
pillars include pilgrimage, charity, prayers, and fasting (Prothero, 2011, p31).
Exemplar: Muhammad
Just like Jesus Christ was sent by God according to Christians, Muhammad was sent by the
Muslim God. Muhamad is portrayed as bureaucratic, and charismatic leader, a superb political,
military and family man (Prothero, 2011). Thus a role model for Muslim lives.
