Reflection of chapter four and six
The week’s content was all about doing it right. We are taken through the old rules of
branding, where the main idea was to come up with an iconic figure and creative messages that
would entice crowds to buy specific products like Domino sugar and Wheaties. The new rules in
regards to personal branding are different, personalized, and dynamic in all aspects. The
literature gives the audience the feel of the elements that ought to be considered, hence achieving
the status of being viewed as an expert, professional and transparent. Different platforms that
include LinkedIn, websites, as well as social media are discussed in depth.
The module took us through the five steps that, if followed, one should be able to be the
perfectly branded individual. Notably, these steps take a personal twist because most of the
questions asked are directed to the individual. The first step is determining your brand attributes.
one is encouraged to dig deeper to find a tagline that best suits them in a revealing manner. The
second key step is developing a statement aligned to better defining you as a brand to the world.
Having a clear and concise branding statement is advised. The third step is all about linking the
attributes and personal statement to the social media platform to expose the new brand, the way
it ought to be portrayed and received in the public realm. A lot of emphases is placed on having a
website, and this is the fourth key step, followed by brand activation, which is also the fifth and
last step.
Personal branding is everything today, and platforms including websites and social media
can entice our potential employers and potential clients while also placing ourselves in a
transparent platform, in a confident manner, hence being pictured in a positive light. We ought to
place more focus on better understanding ourselves and our targets before presenting ourselves
to the world.
