The reading from this week has brought shed a new light to why people eat the way they do. I
can relate to the section on the appetizer effect and satiety as well as social influences and satiety.
The people in my family are overweight. We eat as a family every week with a spread that could
feed a small country. Growing up, I swore that I was not going to be like my family members
and would not eat like the rest of them. I have noticed that when I am around my family I do tend
to eat more then I normally would if I was at home cooking for my family. Another reason that I
feel this is because when I go out with my girl friends that we do not eat as much as we normally
would due to social stresses of possibly being a glutton. I feel that our bodies are used to over
eating and until habits are changed, most may not be able to gain control.
