MANAGING CONFLICT 2
Introduction
It's normal for people working in teams to experience conflict. However, it is the team
leader's responsibility to resolve the dispute and direct the team members in achieving the
common goals. Individuals have different personalities, motivations, and skills, which makes
them differ in various aspects of working together. The team leader must always guide them in
focusing on their roles. Apart from the workflow, the team leader must manage their emotions. It
can be challenging to manage the workers, but it's essential to acquire high productivity. This
paper seeks to address the Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Units case study.
Question 1
The case study depicts employee vs. employee conflict. The officers involved in the case
study were not given clear roles during their operations. As a result, they ended up irritating one
another due to the overlapping of their duties. The officers were supposed to investigate and
arrest all the individuals involved in the production and distribution of crystal meth. However,
they did not succeed in their operations. According to the case study, the police officers spent
most of their time fighting against the law and among themselves. As a result, the team lacked
cooperation among themselves.
Similarly, the team was involved in carrying out their regular duties, which distracted
their daily routine. Also, the team was involved in the murder of an older adult suspected to be a
crystal meth producer. However, after carrying out investigations, it was found out that the man
was innocent. It was also noted that the officers were not qualified to carry out the procedure.
Therefore, its possible lack of sufficient skills resulted in their daily conflict in their duties.
