Introduction
The report will focus on the analysis of climate/weather phenomena of three cities. The
cities to be considered in this case include Nairobi city, located in Kenya, Houston and Austin,
both based in Texas. The first section will give the background on the cities concerning location,
population, main economic activities, among other factors. The central part will analyze the
weather/climate aspects of the three cities while comparing and contrasting them.
Nairobi, Kenya
Nairobi city, which is the capital of Kenya, is located 140 kilometers (87) miles south of
the Equator. Notably, the city has an estimated population of 3.5milion. The large population of
the town has made Nairobi the 14th largest city in the African continent. Nairobi is popularly
referred to as the Green City in the Sun, was founded in 1899 (Nairobi city county, 2020). The city
has, for several years, acted as the home for most of the domestic and international companies and
organizationsthe hub for several businesses as well as cultural activities.
Nairobi has a subtropical highland climate. The city lies as 1,795 meters above the sea level
tends to experience a maximum temperature of 24 °C (75 °F). The city has been growing since the
day Kenya attained independence, and that can be noted from the developed infrastructure (Nairobi
City County, 2020). Some of the notable infrastructures in the city include the Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport, which serves both local and international passengers.
