DEALING WITH DATA SECURITY 2
Dealing with Data Security
Introduction
Data is a valuable asset to any organization and individual. A breach in data is referred to
as an intentional or accidental exposure of information that is confidential to an unauthorized
party. This is a threat that poses a serious risk to enterprises. There are reputation and financial
losses associated with a data breach and can affect the long-term stability of an organization.
There are several types of data common in data breach cases which include customer and
employee data, intellectual and medical records. The average cost of a data breach can costs big
corporations about $4 million to deal with (IBM, 2020). As such, as a cybersecurity threat that
poses a serious risk to the 21
st
-century organizations, we shall analyze some data breach cases,
the lessons, and the applicability of the lessons to the modern organization.
Discussion
Problem Statement
The successful implementation of a information technology system requires that an
organization consider the security issues. With the average cost of containing a data breach being
about $4 million (IBM, 2020), there is a need to have adequate measures for cybersecurity. As
such, there is a need to look at various case studies and the possible solutions for having a
sustainable cybersecurity approach.
