LITERATURE REVIEW: THE KETOGENIC DIET 2
Introduction
The ketogenic diet is one of the popular diets in many parts of the globe. This diet entails
a way of eating whereby the food is high in fat, moderate in protein, and low in carbohydrates.
When people eat in this manner, the diet puts them in the condition or state of ketosis, which
implies that they are burning fat rather than carbs for energy. Unlike the majority of diets that
focus on carbohydrates, the ketogenic diet puts a lot of emphasis on the consumption of more fat

this diet include, it helps in treating seizures and epilepsy, helps with weight loss and it helps in
blood sugar control. On the other hand, some of its cons include it being linked with flu-like

owing to obesity stands at 2.8 million per year. Also, they argue that the majority of chronic
ailments including hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes are to a great extent related to
obesity, which is mainly a product of an unhealthy lifestyle as well as poor dietary habits. They
also state that effectively tailored diet regimens for weight loss can help in managing obesity, a
situation that is increasingly ravaging society in different ways. As per the article, the use of the
ketogenic diet could help in managing the problem of obesity. According to Masood,
