Q1- (a) How do task-based theories explain grief?
The task-based theories explain grief as a process of mourning that unless all the tasks of
grieving are entirely managed, the process cannot be termed as complete. These theories further
to explain the functions of grief as a fluctuating procedure, that helps to embrace and
accommodate the new healthy life past the grief or loss. The process of healing involves
accepting the loss, embracing the pain of the loss, catching up with the latest healthy
surrounding, and finally re-embarking on the newly dawned reality of life. According to these
tasks, if one is skipped, then the process of grieving cannot end.
(b) Explain William Worden’s intervention framework
Based on Worden's intervention, he provides a framework that best explains the
understanding of the journey through grief. According to Worden, the first intervention involves
accepting the reality of the loss, a step that is filled with disbelief making it hard to get into terms
with the loss. Accepting the truth in the death of a loved one refers to embracing it with the
whole being to enable one to move on. The next step involves embracing the pain of grief,
emotionally, physically, spiritually, and also cognitively. Embracing the pain is a step that
encourages an individual and helps them to react safely to grief. According to Worden, the third
step involves the individual's adjustment to the environment afresh. The step refers to moving on
without the deceased, both in the internal and external environment, and thus taking up new
roles, and adapting the new identity. Finally, the individual has to find a sustaining connection
