ENGAGING THE AUDIENCE 2
Engaging the Audience
From Allan Pease, I learned that the palm of one’s hands has power, and the manner in
which an individual shakes hands has an impact on the other person (TEDX Talks, 2013). Pease
was my favorite speaker, and this is due to the manner in which he engaged his audience and
even called some on stage to demonstrate the concepts he was putting across. From Lara Sicola, I
realized that the executive presence has three primary pillars, and this includes gravitas,
communication skills as well as appearance (TEDX Talks, 2014). Each of these pillars should be
considered to ensure a significant impact on the audience. From Lance Miller, I learned that
while delivering a speech, one should keep the audience engaged by offering interesting real-
world examples and using body movements (Lance Miller Speaks, 2016). The interesting real-
world examples help in getting the full attention of the audience.
