According to 2020 study conducted by “Best Colleges,” 61% of college graduates wish
they would have changed their majors.
26% of college students have changed their majors.
o That’s over a quarter of college students who potential wasted years studying
something that wouldn’t even benefit them in their career.
Thus, choosing a major is a very important decision and should not be taken lightly
Overview/thesis: “Today I will be discussing how I perceive myself, social and family influences,
and my culture. With this information, I will discuss how I think that child development is the
right major for me.”

How I perceive myself

o Compare to specific examples of the culture that you’ve experienced in America
Conclusion:
Review each point in turn and it’s connection to your choice in majors
o I am a mother, so I think that a major such as child development would be
beneficial to my self-perception.”
