Influence of Historical Events on Political, Economic, Social and Cultural aspects of Young
People in Syria
Introduction
The Syrian youth were the cause of the outbreak of the civil war in Syria when they launched the
Syrian revolution to demand their rights and express their opposition to the government system.
During the revolution, they hoped that they would be part of solving problems in Syria and that
they would be part of the new Syria, a country capable of meeting their needs, and their big
ambitions. The new system could free their energy and support. They had high energy. Since the
beginning of the protests, the youth have been the mainstay of the movement calling for change.
They felt their duty to spread the spirit of the revolution in Syrian society, and indeed they
managed to form a large percentage of the number of demonstrators who demanded equality,
freedom of expression, decent living, and access to work after the unemployment rate was high

Syrian government's response to Syrian youths opposed to the government was through killing,
repression, and torture against the young.
Syrian youth launched the Syrian revolution and demonstrated in the cities of Daraa, Damascus,
Homs, and Banias. They chanted chants of change, freedom of expression, and living in dignity,
whether in terms of economy, education, or political and civil liberties. "In March 2011, as anti-
government protests swept the Middle East, Syrians called peacefully for political change after
decades of autocratic rule (Bataineh 438). Initially, the demonstrations in Syria were modest.
Still, after 15 boys were kidnapped and tortured by security forces in Daraa for writing graffiti on
some walls, they swelled, spreading to nearly every major city in the Country (Hasan 18). The
spark of the popular movement in Syria relates to responding to the degrading treatment that the
men of power agitate against Syrian youth. The Syrian young persons called for the chants of
freedom, change, and justice, the chants, and songs were a clear sign of dignity and the rejection
of this chronic deprivation of the human self and the reduction of its rights and virtues by the
government. Security forces protested the youth protests brutally, especially in Daraa. The
Syrian security forces killed four people in that city, and the remaining week's demonstrations
turned into bloody events. On March 25, protests spread for the first time to disperse dozens of
Syrian towns and then continued to expand week after week.

birth of the political system after decades of absence of a government. What the youth in Syria
are doing is efforts to put away traditional politics and embrace of modern politics. The violence
they experienced shaped the new visionary nature of the young people in Syria. Lack of
Democracy is what they had to accustom to for long. For decades, the country suffered from the
