the information and skills they need to look into the risk factors associated with tuberculosis

Summary of the Teaching Plan
As a Senior Community Health Nurse and the Tuberculosis Nurse Case Manager in the
community of Manatee County, Florida, which contains many people at higher risk for developing
Latent Tuberculosis (LTBI) and Active Tuberculosis, this author felt it was important to teach
health care professionals about recognizing and treating LTBI as well as prevention and treatment
of Tuberculosis. As the Tuberculosis Nurse Case Manager in Manatee County, the
author of this paper has seen many improper placements of tuberculin skin test as well as misread
and misinterpreted skin test results. The objective applied as the goal for this teaching is Healthy
People 2020 objective IID-29 - Reduce tuberculosis (TB). Four behavioural goals were established
for the proposed teaching plan. One goal is identifying high-priority groups for testing and
describing why high-risk groups need to be tested for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Another goal
is distinguishing what Tuberculosis is and how it is spread, as well as distinguishing between

next goal is demonstrating successful placement and measurement of the Tuberculin Skin Test
