APPLICATION OF STATISTICS IN HEALTH CARE 2
Application of Statistics in Health Care
Statistics is an action or a practice that deals with the collection, categorization, scrutiny,
and explanation of arithmetical truths. This is aimed at instituting a condition that is based on
quantifiable possibilities. Initiatives that are centred toward maintaining or restoring the emotional,
mental, or physical welfare of individuals within the society are the main concerns of the health
care. Statistics, thus, produces quality and competence within the health care department and this
confirms the dire need for the application of statistics in the health care department. The application
of statistics is primarily centred on acquiring a comprehensive or discerning understanding of the
issues that the health care department addresses. Thus, professionalism is guaranteed in the health-
care fragment with a well-organised statistical plan. Our central focus will be then on how the
aspect of statistics influences quality, safety, health promotion, and leadership in the health care
segment.
Since it has been established that statistics is very essential in the health care department,
acquisition of the basics of statistics is vital in the health care segment. Professionals in the health
care use the tenets of statistics in their daily task to enhance their responsibilities and roles
thoroughly. Cook, Netuveli and Sheik (2004), for instance, opine that measurement is one of the
fundamentals of statistics, and it is obvious in their daily endeavors, health practitioners thus need
to use the aspect of measurements. Cook, Netuveli, and Sheik (2004) also claim that the principles
and doctrines of statistics establish a platform which enables professionals in the health care
department to always ground their undertakings on substantial evidence. Daily activity that is
based on evidence is a requirement for practitioners in the health care fragment to carry out the
assignments thoroughly. Consequently, structured learning institution and training programs are
crucial to foster the basic values of statistics among health care professionals.
