Audit Collection Services (ACS) is another part of Operations Manager component in the windows

environment. It can be deployed separately which can allow the separate auditing data from others

recorded by Operations manager. Security auditing information can be collected by ACS from different

operating systems like Linux and UNIX. Overall ACS allows for the central collection of security log data

from computers within an organization. File and folder auditing on file servers and collection

information from event viewer are also tasks performed by ACS. Queries can be ran and reports can be

created of that data to assist in accomplishing the requested tasks of viewing a specific user logged in or

if confidential documents have been accessed. Audit Collection Services takes the information and puts

it in a centralized database that permits easier access for admins to monitor the network.

Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is one solution to keep make sure that a network with servers

and various servers are updated. It is included with Win Server 2008 and higher. It provides centralized

distribution of updates for Microsoft products. WSUS allows the control of which updates are made and

when they are to be deployed. This supports numerous windows services because they will not all

receive the same updates. WSUS can be added to Virtual Machine Manager (VMM). Update servers will

be deployed in the VMM fabric to manage compliance and remediation for virtualization hosts, library

servers, the VMM management server, PXE servers, the WSUS server itself and any infrastructure

servers. (Rayne-Wiselman, 2017)

To set up the WSUS it must be in the same domain as the VMM server or in a domain with full trust.

The WSUS role must be running on the server. Update baselines can be created to establish a

compliance threshold. This will allow the machines to be updated as well as keep specific updates

applied to each appropriate VM.
