1.0 INTRODUCTION.
The shortest path is the determination of the shortest distance between every pair of vertices in
a given graph. The problem can be solved by using the application of Dijkstra’s algorithm.
According to Skiena (1998) “the primary algorithm for finding shortest path is Dijkstra's
algorithm. Dijkstra's algorithm is a step-by-step process we can use to find the shortest path
between two vertices in a weighted graph and also to minimize the cost. It is the right choice for
single-source shortest path on positively weighted graphs which is a graph with numbers on the
edges. The graph must be connected from the starting until the end location.
Based on this algorithm, we would like to run a study related to a Dijkstra algorithm. This
study relates to the problem of a new employee at V-mall known as Amira. Amira is a UUM
student who is stay at Inapan Siswa SME Bank that located outside the UUM campus in Kachi.
She wants to generate her side income while learning by working as a food court assistant at
Varsity mall UUM. As she wants to work for side income, she should also want to make sure her
movement cost to Varsity mall can be minimized.
To find the shortest-path, Amira has made road-to-track surveys so that she can quickly arrive
and safely and also save on the cost of petrol. After the survey, she found that there were some
issues that needed to be handle. Since Amira is the new student at University Utara Malaysia, it
was make her difficult to determine which route is nearest and also the direction of the route.
Therefore, to help Amira choose the shortest path, we have used the Dijsktra’s algorithm
method to determine the shortest path and save on her cost of petrol also the time.

2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT.
1. Amira need to find the shortest path to reach the destination, which is from the main gate
of University Utara Malaysia to Varsity Mall UUM.
2. Amira need to save time to reach the destination earlier. Therefore, he able to attend the
talk on time.
3. Finding the shortest path will be helpful for Amira to save her transportation cost.
3.0 OBJECTIVES.
1. To identify the shortest-path between Bukit Kachi and Varsity Mall.
2. To study the relationship between time and the shortest-path from Bukit Kachi to Varsity
Mall.
3. To examine the relationship between cost and the shortest-path from Bukit Kachi to Varsity
Mall.
