Common good in the social domain is well known and understood. Define the
limits of the principle of commonality in regards to individuals, government, and
corporations. Also, provide a rationale for your answer.
The concept of commonweal supersedes the individual good. From the context
of a corporation this implies that what's good for the society at large is sweet for the
corporate still. This is often a shift from Friedman’s (1970) position that the
company’s motive should only be profit. Additionally to the present, however, this
position of commonweal doesn't sit at the alternative extreme of Friedman’s view
(Risi & David, 2016). The alternative extreme of Friedman’s view would be the
philosophical construct of the greater good being more important than individual
good.
It is true that the Friedman’s theory differs with the concept of commonweal,
although it dies not seem being directly opposite. The quote that “common good, is
that the good for the society and therefore the members” at large may be a clear
indication of the conjoined importance of any company surrounding society because
the effects are direct (Hussain, 2018). The way through which most government takes
part within the commonweal is thru implementing the guiding policies through which
the organization can work upon. This is often essential because the governments tend
to figure in favor of its citizens.
It is evident that the commonweal concept has been linked to variety of
controversies with other related issues. a decent example depicted during this
discussion is that the controversy with Friedman’s theory. I agree that the concept
isn't directly opposite to what the idea states, but there exist quite an number of
varying issues. Commonweal concept entails both the societal and individual view of
things. This one is clear from what's being discussed.
