Symbolic interactionism
Symbolic interactionism is the view of social behavior that lays emphasis on linguistic or
gestural transmission of information and its subjective understanding, pertaining the role of
language in the shaping of a child as a social being. Sociologists of this view argue that humans
respond to things based on the significance they ascribe to those things. They argue that people
interact with each other by interpreting each other’s actions instead of reacting to each other’s
actions. The notion means that they focus more on the meanings attached to actions rather than
the actions themselves.
Conflict theories
Conflict theories are views in sociology that stress a materialist translation of history,
dialectical methods of analysis, a critical opinion towards existing political reforms and social
arrangements. These theories focus on power distinctive such as class conflict and generally
differentiate archaeologically governing doctrines. They argue that the system has shaped the
entire operation in the society in that most individuals have always thought that the rich have
attained riches through education and hard work while viewing the poor as having a deficiency
in skill and initiative.
