Abstract
Visual Merchandising is the marketing practice that retailers employ. The main goal is to attract
customers through optimal use of space available, color theory, displays of merchandise, other visual
elements. It's quite an important tactic for retailers to employ due to the effect of sales it can have. In
fact, retailers use planograms to organize their merchandise throughout their stores. It dictates the
layout of the store, and even store design. In addition, they use Point-of-Purchase displays, alongside
other signage, to create a visual appealing display for the customer. There have been some retailers that
forsaken the importance of visual merchandise that led to blunders on their end. They end up having a
mess of sales floor. One that customers avoid. Failure in appealing to the customer will end up with a
decrease in customer traffic, and sales. All that affect the profitability of the company. It's important for
a store's management team to take a step back, and take on the perspective of the customer. Does this
display look appealing? Does it draw me to make an impulse purchase?
