In many ways after the divisiveness and devastation of the Civil War, the United States searched for order
economically, politically, geographically, socially and racially. Select one of these areas, or suggest another, and
make a case for the reasons why it was the most vital area that America needed to address. Some examples include
the westward expansion of the nation, the reunification of a national political system in the north and south, the influx
of immigrants, conflict with Native Americans, and an increase of racial segregation. Also, incorporate and cite in APA
format one of the primary sources, found in your textbook, in your response.
Your initial post should be at least 150 words in length. Support your claims with examples from required material(s)
and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts
by Day 7. In your response to your fellow classmates compare and contrast to your own selection for the most vital
area the nation to address to their selection.
There were a lot of important issues that America needed to address after the Civil War. Personally all the issues that
were being discussed whether it was the political, economical or the geographical issues they were all important in
order to reconstruct and improve the new government. However, as human beings how can we make decisions if we
don’t know where we stand as humans?
Our book states: “Many questions surfaced: What role would women, African Americans, and Native American
Indians play in this newly reconstructed America?”
Personally the most important issue that should have been addressed should have been the social aspect and what
kind of rights would everyone have. A lot of citizens had very limited rights and often none. Obtaining equal human
rights regardless of sex, race, religion or other status should have been the first issue to tackle. This movement could
have encourage citizens to make wise decisions that could benefit them and the country as well.
