SELF AND SOCIAL IDENTITY
The topic applies topics relates to my personal life as it tries to describe myself and my
surroundings in the broader view. The self-identity defines me and my qualities to continue
striving for individual goals. This concept is what motivates us in each an everyday life to
continue being optimistic that keep on trusting our inner abilities Mavor et al (2017). The social
identity is what defines our coexistent with other people in our surrounding. This includes how
we interact with our church members and also how we communicate with our fellows. The social
identity is what built respect or hate in our places of work.
To understand the two concepts in detailed, we need to expound deeply on it. Self-
identity can be explained in many ways and also be used in many cases. Self is the personal
concept. It is a collection of beliefs about oneself or owns understanding a person has for
themselves. It is composed of self-assessments, such as personal attributes, knowledge of one
skill and abilities Mavor et al (2017). In another case, we have a social identity. Which is who
we claim to belong to in the social status of life. This can be what we claim to be, and every
individual is comfortable with. They include religious ethnicity, culture and also friends.
Self-identity can be realized in two ways, positive and negative. The positive self-identity
is what identifies our good deed to society. It’s a sale out as a person continues to interacts with
the world in a more friendly manner Hogg et al (2017). Positive identity motivates individuals to
realize what their main role is. Positive life indicators consist of things that make a person stands
out in a crowd. They include life satisfaction, quality of life and environmental mastery.
Interactions with friends, family and people very close to us are a positive impact of self-
identity. The fist parents who take care of us as we grow are the first people who influence our
