Cinderella Fairy Tale
Cinderella is a folk tale that embodies domestic oppression, suffering, neglect, and
eventually triumphs. The character is a little girl raised by her stepmother following the death of
her mother and father. There exist various productions, adaptations, and storylines regarding the
Cinderella story. Cinderella is born from a noble family. Her father is married to a descent,
joyous, and a caring woman. The 1919 story by Charles Perrault gives a little if no description of
her father and mother. After the death of her mother, the father marries the second wife, who alo
has two daughters. Cinderella was adopted by her stepmother, along with her two daughters. The
Stepmother was jealous of Cinderella's beauty and felt that her husband lover Cinderelle more
than her. After the death of her husbad, the stepmother became cruel and unruly towards
Cinderelle. She made Cinderella do all the household chores, while living in a terrible
environment with little to wear and nowhere to sleep.
One day, their King and Queen announced that they were going to hold a ball for their
son the Prince. Cinderella was asked by her stepmother to dress her two daughters for the event,
but she told Cinderella that she was supposed stay at home during the ball. When everyone had
left leaving Cinderella attending to house chores, her fairy Godmother intervened. Through her
powers, she was able to dress Cinderella in an immaculant gown with glass slippers and provided

beautiful, and everyone admired her, including the Prince. Her sisters did not recognize her

the spell her fairy godmother had placed would wear off. She left the ball in hurry, leaving a
glass slipper behind her. The Prince had fallen in lover with her and vowed to find her using the
glass slipper she had left behind. Eventually, he found Cinderella amidst shock from her sisters,
and stepmother. Then she happily married with the Prince. Charles Perrault gave this initial
story, and many writers from different settings adapted the initial script and modified it to fit into
modern society.
Just Ella 1999 by Margaret Peterson reimagines the fairy tale of Cinderella from a
feminists perspective, providing a much-detailed life experience. Her folk tale illuminates the
frustrations, sufferings, and how women were disillusioned in society. In Peterson’s version of
Cinderella, Ella is enganged to prince charming. The story begins where the traditional stoy left
off, Peterson had Ella describe her life with her stepmother and stepsisters to some of her
servants. Then she picks up and describes Ella living in the castle planning her soon to be
wedding to the Prince. She starts to realize that she does not like being royalty, and all of her
new royal expectations. She realizes that the royal family cares about beauty rather than love.
Ella manages to escape the castle, and the marrying the Prince.
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson is a 1997 adaptation of Cinderella. Carson's description of
Ella's life includes education background, love, parental care, and family feuds. Ella was given
the gift of obedience by Lucinda the Fairy at birth. This gift forces her to follow through with
every command that is asked of her. When Ella was 15 years when her mother passed on, and
she met her prince charming who pal around before being sent to school. While at school, she
