Lebrun is stating here that people that do not suffer from depression do not know what those with depression deal with every day (2007). It is a state of mental illness and a mood disorder that causes significant impairment in daily life. People with depression feel a loss of interest in activities affecting their social behavior and their feelings and thinking. Everyone experiences negative feelings like being sad or unhappy from time to time and they are usually overwhelming and painful, which is a normal reaction to when something upsets someone. But as the time goes by the pain becomes less and eventually disappears. however, if these feelings continue, they will affect the person, and this will result in depression. As described by Jared Houdi “Depression is a mood disorder that is defined as losing interest in important parts of life” (2019).
