China population and demography

China has the highest population globally, with an estimation of 1.35 billion people within

the country. The Chinese population accounts for nineteen percent of the total global population.

The process of curbing excessive growth of population within china over the past decades holds a

priority in the policy implementation regarding the community. According to the census conducted

in 2010, it indicates that the Chinese demographic condition has fundamentally changed over the

past years i.e., from 2000 to 2010. The population growth rate averagely was 0.57% annually

compared to the previous decade, with 1.07%. The structure of China population has also

considerably changed from the second last census carried in 1982 to the 6

census done in 2010

(ECONOMY). The fraction of children with ages ranging from 0 to 14 dropped from 33.6% to

16.6% of the entire population; individual elderly aging from 60 and above increases from 7.6%

to 13.3%, while the individual with 65 years and above rose from 4.9% to 8.9%.

The alteration of population structure within China indicated a drop in the birth rate while

an increase in the aging population within the State. High rate of age population has possessed a

severe challenge towards the socio-economic sustainability of countries. Due to the current low

rate of fertility within China, the population growth might negatively shift by 2027 i.e., the end of

the 21

era, a projection that will lead to a drop of the population to 940 million (United Nations,

2010). The distribution of the Chinese population in rural to urban environments have experienced

a historic shift. The Chinese population dwelling in urban was approximated to be 51.3% of the

entire population by the end of 2011, thus making China be State with a low population in rural.

In 2012, 52.3% of the Chinese people were living in various urban towns within china (Wang,

2011). According to the World Bank, China is categorized as an upper middle- income Nation,
