Management Hierarchy
Different scholars have analyzed the management hierarchy and summarized it into three
main levels. The first level is strategic management. According to Bhasin (2019), strategic level
management is the highest level of management concerned with making decisions and
formulating policies. They include CEOS, directors, and other senior employees in an
organization. The management decides on strategies and objectives in an organization. The
second level of management is called the management level of the middle level. According to
Kalpana (n.d.) is the link between the top management and operational management. They are
mainly responsible for controlling and implementing plans and strategies formulated by top
management. The middle management's primary duties include assigning duties, formulating
departmental objectives, and acting as the link between the top and the supervisory management.
The third level of management is operational management, responsible for controlling day to day
activities in an organization. Quain (2019) explains that operational management is involved in
assigning specific tasks, supervising daily activities, and ensuring continued production. The
managers at this level are involved in the motivation, supervision, and taring of employees to
ensure they achieve the objectives.
All three levels of management contribute to the mission of a business. A mission
explains the reason for the existence of a business and how the organizational goals are to be
achieved. According to Khan and Ahmad (2012), the collaboration between the three levels of
management helps to achieve the mission of a business with a lot of ease. The strategic level
formulates the direction which an organization is to follow in formulating its mission. The
management level executes all the policies developed in business while communicating with the
operational management to actualize the activities. At the operational management, they
