This story was published in 1843, and has been considered as a classic of the gothic fiction genre, as well as one of Poe's most known short stories. This story takes place in the sitting room of a house, as well as the ‘old man’s’ bedroom. The main characters consist of the old man and the narrator, minor characters include their neighbors and the police men. The plot of the Tell-Tale heart is about a caretaker (or the narrator) who is taking care of the old man. He has no true problems with the old man, he even says that he likes him. Yet, the man has one flaw, his eye disturbs the caretaker. So, the caretaker decides to kill him, and put his chopped up body under the floorboards.
