NATIONAL PROJECT 2
National Project
Second Avenue Subway is located in New York State. The first phase of the project started in
2007 and opened to the public in 2017. Phase one runs under Manhattan’s second avenue
intending to connect the Eastside subway. Phase 2 plans to include the construction of three new
stations, which are 106th, 116th, and 125th streets. The stakeholders of the project are the New
York state, the public in general, and the employees.
The project was both internal and external. Internal because funding and planning were done
by the New York state and external because they had to outsource labor from the community and
construction company for the project to be done. The most important resources that were also a
challenge include an electrical distribution system that would be done underground and regarded
as the world's longest underground connections for 80500 miles of cables. Funding the project is
among the most important resource and without it; the project would not have been possible. The
availability of people to provide labor was also an important resource.
There are several stakeholders involved in this project. They include the New York state who
represents the government, the customers, and the employees, the government expectation is to
collect taxes from the project. The employees have a stake in the project as they expect income.
The public is also stakeholders in that they expect good services that they have paid for.
In my opinion, the approach used for the project was the best because they were working with
recording taken from other existing stations. Therefore, using an approach that has worked
before is the best approach.
There were several risks in the project and among them were significant risk of being
delayed again because of setbacks such as the fabricating elevators cabs used for underground
subway entrances, the testing of police radio systems, and installing of communication
