Curriculum developers experience various challenges when developing an inclusive
curriculum system. Education is a right for every child, but sometimes children with special
needs miss out on quality education due to exclusivity by most curricula. Sarton & Smith, (2018)
affirms that although the right to education for every child gets acknowledged in many national
and international agreements, there are still a lot of difficulties for kids with special needs when
seeking access to quality education.
Lack of Cohesion
Children have different types of disabilities, and considering all aspects of every
particular need is the most challenging duty to individuals who work on developing curriculum
systems. Therefore failing to acquire cohesiveness is one of the biggest challenges in
formulating an inclusive curriculum. Disability is a broad term that includes individuals with
mild and extreme signs of disability. Curriculum developers find it hard to identify which special
needs to consider without a feeling of discriminating against other people. People with different
states of the disability come up, each claiming special attention, which hinders the quick
formation of an inclusive curriculum. The difficulty in identifying groups that need special
attention gives rise to many individuals lobbying for support and recognition as people with
special needs. Sarton & Smith (2018) narrate that the population with special needs must
understand that they need to assemble without competing and influence the formation of an
inclusive and effective curriculum system.
Lack of Goodwill
Lack of goodwill from people in power is also another challenge that affects the creation
of a curriculum for people with disabilities. Disabled people form up the minority in society and
