Analyze the nurse educator's influence on implementing or improving an
organization's instructional design model and learning theory.
Considering the nurse educator’s competences as outlined by World Health Organization
(2016), it is evident that the nurse educator has great knowledge, experience, and skills that make
them influential in curriculum planning and implementation. They are thus equally influential in
improving and changing the instructional design and learning theory. The first competence
indicates that nurse educators are knowledgeable about the theories and principles of adult
learning. They are thus have expertise on how to design the instructional design to ensure that
learners gain maximally from the various curriculum modules (World Health Organization,
2016). Nurse educators are also competent in research and evidence, and are thus equipped with
knowledge regarding the best instructional designs depending on the learning modules and the
objectives of study. Nurse educators are also competent in management, leadership, and
advocacy, which make them ideal in advising on improvements in instructional design. They
advocate for the implementation of the best instructional and learning designs to ensure that
learners get the best from their learning experiences. Nurse educators are also knowledgeable in
ethical and legal principles and they thus ensure that the developed instructional and learning
designs fall within the legal and ethical frameworks (World Health Organization, 2016). These
competences as well as other additional skills and experience make nurse educators ideal
influencers in instructional design implementation and improvement.
