Major indicators of men's health status
Alcohol use is one health indicator among men. The rate of alcohol use among men is
associated with poor psychological health. Therefore, one sign of poor psychological and
physical health is alcohol intake. The intake of alcohol shows the presence of underlying
problems. Another health indicator is smoking (Nies & McEwen, 2014). Smoking is also
associated with poor health. Men who smoke are likely to be suffering from both psychological
and physical issues. Another indicator is fertility. The fertility of men is determined by the health
of their reproductive system and other issues. Therefore, being unfertile may indicate that a man
is ill and therefore may need treatment for their underlying illness. The fertility of men can be
measure using the sperm count of the person ((Baker, 2016). Nutritional indicators are also
important. It is also important to look out for signs of bad nutrition. Nutritional indicators may
include anemia and weight. Men who eat high-fat content or have metabolic disorders are likely
to be overweight. Also not eating enough iron sources may lead to a person having anemia. The
rate of obesity and overweight among men differs among the various ethnic and racial groups.
Disability indicators may also express the health of men (Lee, Corneille & Brandon, 2019). Men
who are unable to function and conduct activities that they should be able to perform at their age
are likely to be ill. Other indicators that may also be used to determine the health of men is the
prevalence of illnesses and occurrence. The prevalence and occurrence may help tell the chances
of a person being sick.
Physiological and psychosocial factors that have an impact on men's health status
Several physiological factors impact the health of men. One factor is alcohol intake and
drug abuse. The use of alcohol and other recreational drugs like cigarettes affect the physiology
