Chapter Three: Analysis of The Business Enterprise.
This chapter focuses on performance assessment. It provides detailed current information
on management style, profit, sales, organizational structure, and cost several approaches to self-
evaluation. One method is a resource-based view of the firm and also market competencies.
Again, shareholder value analysis is done. Lastly, sales and profitability analysis is also done
(Proctor, 2002).
Creativity is also emphasized. The importance of creativity in business is also a concern
when analyzing an enterprise. The reason is a focus is put on problems associated with a
negative mindset that blocks creative thinking. Solutions to these problems that prevent creative
thinking on a business set up are provided. Again the value chain analysis is done. Other kinds of
performance parameters are also examined.
Chapter Four: Industry Analysis
The chapter begins by examining the life cycle of industries. It emphasizes that; it is
essential to understand the industry's ultimate nature and its transits. The implication brought
about by transition into maturity is emphasized in industry analysis. Industry and markets are
explained as separate entities in this chapter. Industries undergo lifecycles with changes in
competition and consumer demands. Industries are defined to exist in fragmented forms, where
no form pre-dominates the others.
On industry analysis, emphases are also laid on strategic groups within an industry that
have the same target customers following similar trends to serve the clients. SPACE (Strategic
Position analysis and Action Evaluation) is also considered since it relates to the industry's
strength to advantage in competition and the organization's financial power (Proctor, 2002).
