The Importance of Remaining Self-Aware Groups
Self-awareness is a very important quality in group matters. Through the study of
diversity in groups, individuals have varying personality traits that tend to determine their
confidence when engaging others in groups. A particular individual or an entire group can feel
nervous, eager, or confident regarding their presence in the group. Uncertainty also tends to
determine the existence or relationships of a person in a particular group. Reflecting on the
importance of self-awareness gathers all the factors strengthening the awareness of an individual
in a particular team and positions them at the point of drawing success.
A team that is highly self-aware practices intra-team relationships which extend beyond
the actual level required for cooperation within groups. As a group member, I become closely
connected with one another and capable of meeting the group’s goals with one mind.
Communication in such teams is also instructive and ensures that members of the team exercise
instructive synchrony in all their activities and every member adjusts their direction in relation to
the direction of movement for the entire team. Maintaining self-awareness concerns learning
truths regarding culture and new trends in the community (Ashley & Reiter-Palmon, 2016).
Group members ought to act like participants- observers who keep track of a group's interactions,
discussions, and overall performance.
Self-awareness in groups assists members to own the vision that carries the meaning of
the group. As a staunch team member, I create and utilize the energy and innovation required by
the team to carry out their activities without being compromised. Self-awareness enables groups
to brainstorm challenges and opportunities required for achieving the goals and objectives of the
group. A culture of the shared relationship becomes the driving factor for demonstrating
