Reaction Paper on How to Find a Job
Comments of My Topic and Its Effects to Audiences
My topic of choice is how to find a job. Typically, young people in their early twenties
search for employment opportunities after finishing college and university studies. Nevertheless,
challenges occur when an individual lacks the necessary skills and expertise that prospective
employers require. People look for jobs daily. Whether that individual graduated recently, a
person laid-off from the workplace, or someone who needs a different job, their thorough search
turns into a cautiously planned search for employment. Therefore, people must learn how to look
for work effectively. The topic is interesting to audiences, and in this case, job searchers so they
can know how to do it effectively. Besides, I consider how to find a job attractive to targeted
audiences because any current or prospective job seeker will learn practical tactics to use while
applying for a job, more so how to apply and perhaps the dressing code.
My Verbal and Non-verbal
I trust understanding the diverse aspects of verbal and non-verbal communication and the
critical roles they play in our relations with others is the initial step to improving effective and
positive communication. My verbal skills include clarity of speech, maintaining calmness and
focus, politeness, and adhering to some primary etiquette rules. Besides, I believe in open
communication. In numerous interpersonal experiences, the first few moments is tremendously

essential. I use positive first impressions to create a good communication flow. When meeting
someone, I form an instant image of them depending on their looks, sounds, and behaviors. My
other verbal skill is asking questions. Pose questions that are essential, well-timed, and open-
ended. The purpose of using open-ended questions is to increase the scope of discussion when I
require supplementary information. My primary non-verbal skill is maintaining eye contact to
show confidence. Maintaining eye contact ensures that people are at ease, building trust and
drawing them towards me.
Areas I Need to Improve
I need to improve my non-verbal skills. Mainly, I need to improve on paying close
attention to what other people say and maintaining an open body position. Listening to what
other people say is critical to being a helpful listener. Replies can enable me to repeat what I hear
from other people, demonstrating that I care. In most cases, I find myself crossing my arms over
my body, which can look defensive to some audiences. Therefore, I should improve on this to
have an open body position to allow other people to learn that I am open to listening.
Plans on Improving
I plan to improve the two significant areas by engaging more people in a talk. Besides, I
will ensure I engage in formal and informal discussions, for instance, presenting different content
in different areas, such as the impacts of social media on teenagers. Presentations can occur in
various schools in the neighborhood. The final plan would be to attend seminars and conferences
to learn from different speakers, watch YouTube videos, and read notes.
How My Audience Felt During My Speech?
My audience was impressed by my speech as I articulated issues related to finding a job.
The speech encouraged them to change a few problems during job searching. My ability to
