What are some advantages and disadvantages of using an interview rather than an
application form to screen prospective employees?
I believe some of the advantages to an interview over an application is the interviewer
can observe prospective employees' eye contact and posture, articulation,
representation of self as a valued person, and if they would have that same ambition
for the company. In addition, a person can not be as deceptive with an interview.
However, applications are good if looking for specific information about the person,
which you would not ask during an interview. I believe too that some people may not
be good at the application process, but proves themselves well during an interview. I
believe it comes down to what process is better for that organization. I believe that is
why we have applications and interviews combined. The application may save time
with eliminating unwanted prospective's through the application process, but an
interview gives a one-on-one approach through direct contact.
