Parenting, unlike any other process, is continuous. Be it by chance, voluntarily, or by a
designated plan, raising a family revolves around decision making, setting goals, and
collaboration. The latter involves maintaining a smooth relationship between parents and the
relevant caregivers obligated with duties aside from healthy parenting. They include teachers,
guiders, motivators, and protagonists of appropriate programs like ours whose mission is solely
based on the creation of policies that connect families and improve parent-child relationships.
Therefore, this insert gives a brief abstract behind our program, an ideology that will be
dispensed throughout this parental handbook. It will focus on connecting our observation and
assessment policy to families and the importance of decision making and goal setting concerning
growth and assessment of children both at home and in school. Moreover, this handbook will
serve as a guide for family conferences that the program plans to facilitate by simplifying the
connection between our program and the different parenting practices.
One of the most excellent tools in raising a family and maintaining healthy relationships
is parental involvement (Karabenick, 2005). This forms the basis on which the idea behind
observation and assessment was to build on. This policy focuses on a collaborative family
approach between the parents of the child and other relevant caregivers. The child's progress is
monitored throughout the child's residency under their parent's roof, plus or minus a few years.
This continuous observation should then lead to a periodical assessment of the child's life in
terms of educational preferences, sports, and a determination of the child's strengths and
weaknesses. This is core in establishing growth patterns and the direction the child is willing to
take. It can go a long way in insulating the family from the regular push and pulls resulting from
a misunderstanding between the caregivers and the child. (Karabenick, 2005) points out that
