ANTI-BULLYING PROGRAM 2
School-Based Anti-Bullying Program
Bullying, a major problem among children and teenagers, requires attention from a
healthcare perspective. In the previous assessment, it was determined that bullying puts the
mental, physical, and emotional health of the affected child in jeopardy and this could affect
health outcomes in later life. The proposed intervention to deal with bullying is a middle school
educational session whereby the nurse educates children on bullying and methods of preventing
the problem in the school environment. The anticipated outcomes are that the rates of bullying
will decrease, children will tackle and report bullying more, and health problems associated to
bullying will also be reduced in the healthcare organization. This paper details the components of
the intervention program, discusses the theoretical foundations, stakeholder, and ethical
implications of the planned intervention targeting middle school children.
Intervention Plan Components
The planned intervention program integrates the process of bringing together young
people for sensitization and education on bullying. The main components of the intervention
include developing the materials for education, organizing the meeting, and delivering education
to the target audience. This simple plan will deliver education to the target audience in a single
sitting to enhance their knowledge and understanding on aspects of bullying and how to deal
with them. As such, the criterion for evaluating these components will be a pre- and post-
intervention survey of participants to determine their awareness and knowledge levels in
connection to the topic of interest. Before delivering the education program, the researcher will
provide surveys for students to understand the gaps in knowledge. After the educational
program, an additional survey will be administered to determine the impact of the intervention in
changing knowledge level of the children.
