I must say that your post is incredible since it provides depth analysis of the elements of system
engineering and what perceptions people have on them. In most cases, there may be some feeling
that people may overlook one or more aspects of systems engineering. Despite this, I agree with
you that there are steps that are overlooked when it comes to supporting the entire system. The
most common one is the SIMILAR approach and its stands for stating the problem, investigating
alternatives, modeling the system, integrating/developing the system, and launching the systems.
The last two are assessing the performance of the system and re-evaluating the systems (Jacobs,
2011). All these elements play a crucial role in systems engineering since they work together to
improve the entire system. I do agree with you about the importance of effective system
management. Without such understanding, it becomes hard to maintain quality throughout the
systems engineering process. Creating an efficient organizational environment is also crucial. It
is because it helps create a perfect place for success since external issues are taken into
consideration (Jacobs, 2011).
Although other aspects covered are crucial, I do agree that assessing the performance of the
system stands out. It is because it determines the success of the system and to what extent it will
deliver. Without having a proper assessment of the system, it becomes hard to provide and
enhance effective performance in systems engineering. I also think that the aspects are mostly
overlooked, and this causes programs or software not to function as expected. A lot of emphases
is needed in this aspect to enhance effectiveness in system engineering (Jacobs, 2011). Without
according this aspect, the necessary concentration, operations in system engineering may also be
affected. In conclusion, I think that your connection about systems engineering in the military
brings a clear picture of how assessing the performance of the system is overlooked and how the
issue can be addressed.
