Psy 435 Week 4 - DQ 2_What impact do goals have on behavior

Showing Page:
What impact do goals have on behavior? What types of goals will lead to the highest
level of performance? Why?
I believe people who have set goals will behave in a manner that will make their
chances of reaching the goals likely. I believe goals are important because when a
person has something to look forward to their behaviors will be commendable. Goals
comes in all forms from getting an A on an exam to drinking less martini's on the
weekend. I believe goals that offer a substantial personal reward get the highest levels
of performance. A person having high self deficiency is likely to achieve their goals,
unlike a person with low efficacy for achievement, this person is likely to lose sight
and interest and may never meet their goals (Spector, 2008). Monetary rewards are
influential, most people do not turn down a monetary reward, however there are other
reasons people have goals and money may not be the reward. Getting a higher
education is helpful in meeting goals especially for job promotions. I believe in
essence many goals eventually lead back to achievement and recognition, because
goals are set and see through and by our achievements.
