What is sensory processing disorder
Sensory Processing disorder is a condition of neurological disorder in which sensory information
an individual receives from the body’s sensory system causes an inappropriate response. A
person with the Sensory disorder can either be over responsive or under responsive.
. Discuss and describe the symptoms
a. Individual avoids touching or be touched. This may cause aching or itching. A person
avoids any form of body contact for instance hugs. Protest after being lightly touched or
rubbed.
b. Individuals covering of ears or jumping at certain kind of sounds or sound volume.
c. Individual avoid to eat certain foods or drinks. This is due to food taste and textures are
uncomfortable. Becomes a picky eater. Can result to vomiting.
d. Individual avoids to use certain products due to scents. Exposure to such scents can lead
to vomiting or sour face.
e. Individual find bright lights and varying covers over stimulating. Individuals with
Sensory disorder may avoid going out in the sun and crave darkness. Floating objects and
moving object may lead to meltdown
f. Be unable to tell where their limbs are in space.
What is sensory processing disorder. Discuss and describe the symptoms. How does this
relate to autism?
In my opinion there is no relationship between Sensory Processing Disorder and Autism.
Causes of autism
Genetic causes -Individuals related by blood to a person with the condition of autism are more
likely to suffer from it. From the video on
Geographical areas -Individual leaving in certain areas especially in the urban setting are more
likely to suffer from autism as compared to other who live in rural setting\
